The sports crew work closely with Mr Littlefair to help develop our physical education across the school. The children will design breaktime and lunchtime clubs and will help deliver the clubs to all of the children. They also ensure that the equipment is stored away correctly.
School Games – Gold Award
We are delighted to announce that we, Pentland Primary School, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year. Our application was written based on our commitment to extra-curricular PE and the scale of our offer to all students. This includes lunchtime and afterschool clubs across a wide range of sporting, dance and gymnastics activities.
Physical Activity at Pentland Primary School
We are an active school where each child attends school in active uniform to enable all children and teachers to take part in Physical Activity daily, allowing the children to achieve their active 60 minutes daily.
Mokis
Throughout this year, all children in KS1 and KS2 will wear a Moki band to help track their daily exercise and how many steps we do as a collective. Children compete against the other classes within the school to see which class is the most active.
Travel Tracker
We have chosen to be part of an exciting behaviour-change initiative to encourage more children and their families to walk to school. WOW – the walk to school challenge is delivered by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, to help as many children as possible experience the benefits of walking to school. The pupil-led challenge enables children to self-report how they get to school every day. If they travel actively (walk/wheel, cycle, scoot or Park and Stride) at least once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge.
